I formally go by the name of Aisling, but lets not be formal, everyone really calls me Ash and I am super excited to be a part of the IDC social media and blogging team in London.
Style and fashion for me is just a way of life, I wouldn’t say I follow every trend and HAVE to have all the “in” things, but I like to be in the know and have a few ‘trend’ setting items hanging in my wardrobe.
I have quite an eclectic range of clothes, I don’t have one particular style, I am quite versatile and my wardrobe is FULL of all kinds of variations: a fifties inspired full skirt dress, to ripped mom jeans to gym leggings and a hoodie. However, my go to look is quite basic, I love a baggy tee and a skinny high waisted pair of jeans, I guess comfort is key, but it doesn’t have to be boring.
My go to look:
T-Shirt | Denim Jacket | New Balance Trainers | Ripped Skinny Jeans | Michael Kors Bag | Leather Jacket | Michael Kors Heels | Daniel Wellington Watch | Tiffany & Co Bracelet | Links of London Friendship Bracelet | Thomas Sabo Bracelet | Pandora Stacking Rings | Ray Ban Sunglasses | Benefit Hoola Lip Gloss |
As previously mentioned my everyday look is very versatile and as seen above can be transformed by simply changing the shoes and the jacket and we have transformed from day to night. Whatever the occasion, I prefer the “less is more” look, and opt for a statement piece of clothing or jewellery to make the outfit stand out.
The 9-9 Look
Tulle Skirt | Long Sleeved Leotard | Leather Jacket | Kurt Geiger Sandals | Miss KG Ankle Boots | Steve Madden Trainers | Cross Body Handbag | Balenciaga Tote Handbag | Stella & Dot Rings | Casio Watch | Snake Chain Necklace | Nars Lip Gloss | OPI Nail Varnish |
When out and about, I tend to dress the 9-9 look. You never know where your day is going to take you, so it’s always a good idea to be prepared. Wear something that is ideal for meetings throughout the day but you can easily pass for cocktails with your friends in the evening. A perfect example as shown above.
I was going to say I’m not the ‘all black’ kind of girl, but I actually love wearing black. The old myth of black makes you look slim, really works on me, plus I feel comfortable and confident wearing black.
The thing about fashion is that it’s always evolving and I don’t always have it perfect, I have made some massive faux pas in the past, but fashion is supposed to be experimented with, it’s like playing real life dress up!
I love stealing inspiration from historic icons or periods; the Roaring 20’s and the mischievous flappers, Hepburn and Monroe as well as the free loving bohemian spirit from the 60’s. The classic Coco Chanel is always admirable, but what I really love is the modern spin that Karl Lagerfeld has bought to Chanel. The iconic trends mixed with street style is something that I always aim to achieve.
Insta Inspirations
Fashion blogger Bang Bang Blond, ticks all the above specifications and even though some of her clothing pieces are at a luxury price, she always offers a more affordable option on her blog posts. Caroline Flack is also a fave on my Instagram. She allows her followers into her life and shares pictures of her friends and family, and even her very human like cat Waffle. Her style is so achievable and affordable and really depicts her playful personality. Louise Redknapp is probably my definition of style, she is just effortlessly chic and can rock every single look.
What I love about fashion and continue to learn about, is that fashion is completely subjective, its subjective to you as a person, your mood, your location, the type of occasion etc, and that’s ok. You don’t have to dress according to the runways or the pages of a glossy magazine, dress according to what makes you happy. As long as you feel comfortable and confident, then own it!!
