Trending this season, stripes and gingham

It’s the season of shirts in the form of a picnic blanket, and I say that positively, stripes and gingham are taking the window fronts by storm, and to add a touch of spice to the dish, embroidery will be seen aplenty. The high street has a great collection of this seasons trends, my fave are from Zara; gingham, stripe, embroidery, statement sleeves, you name it.

Stripes always seem to be a summer statement, much like fur and knits are for winter. Pale blues and whites are the perfect shade for the coming Spring/Summer wardrobe. Not only will be seeing gingham and stripes in shirts, but trousers, coats, skits and dresses also. Add a touch of metallic and a small clutch and you can take this look from day to night, perfect for summer roof top drinks with your gals.

Styling Tip

Pair stripes and gingham with white, grey or black and then add a loud pop of colour in the shoes or accessories.

Trend Alert

Dresses worn over trousers is a very nostalgic 90’s trend, which has made its rounds right back to 2017.  It was only a matter of time before the statement tops turned into statement dresses….over your jeans.  It was also one of the most seen street style trends throughout London Fashion week. This is the perfect layering transition from spring to summer. If testing this new trend, try wearing skinny jeans under your dress to balance your proportion. If wearing a shirt dress, leave a few buttons undone at the top and the bottom for a more effortlessly put together look.
